GOLF CHANNEL Hosts Online Million Dollar Bracket Challenge
Orlando, FL (PRWeb) February 15, 2007 -- The Million Dollar Bracket Challenge provides golf fans with an opportunity to compete in the first free-to-play fantasy golf game with a $1 million prize. To play, individuals need to log on at www.GolfChannel.com and select the golfer they think will win each match in the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship to be played at The Gallery at Dove Mountain, Tuscon, Ariz., on Feb. 21-25.
The Million Dollar Bracket Challenge will be pre-populated with the 64 players and exact match-ups fans will see at the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship. Individuals will need to pick the winner of each match until they have selected the winner for each round, and ultimately designated their predicted tournament winner. If an individual correctly picks each match-up then they will take home the $1 million grand prize. Should more than one individual successfully pick each match, then a system based on the total number of predicted birdies will break the tie.
Individuals may sign up now at GolfChannel.com, although the Bracket will not be available until Feb. 19. Bracket selections must be completed one hour prior to the start of WGC Accenture Match Play Championship on Feb. 21.
"We're excited to engage golfers with this free online game that is an added feature to our Fantasy Golf platform this year," said Gene Pizzolato, executive vice president, Advertising Sales & New Media, the GOLF CHANNEL. "The drama of match play competition is the element that makes this event so popular. Now, playing along with the chance to win a million dollars will only enhance the fans experience."
Based on points awarded for correct picks, players can win merchandise without picking the perfect bracket. The first place winner without picking each match will receive a Ben Hogan Big Ben C S3 Driver with the runner-up earning a Ben Hogan Big Ben Fairway wood. The third place winner will get a Ben Hogan Edge CFT Hybrid Club.
The GOLF CHANNEL (www.GolfChannel.com), co-founded by Arnold Palmer and a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCSA, CMSK), is available in more than 100 million homes worldwide through cable, satellite and wireless companies. It features a programming schedule that includes more live golf coverage than any other network -- an extensive blend of golf competition from around the world -- as well as news, instruction and original productions, such as the popular The Big Break. In addition to being the exclusive television home of the Nationwide Tour, European Tour and Canadian Tour, the GOLF CHANNEL is the exclusive cable home of the Champions Tour and televises other competition from the PGA TOUR, LPGA Tour, USGA, PGA of America, PGA Tour of Australasia and Sunshine Tour of Southern Africa. Beginning in 2007, the GOLF CHANNEL will be the exclusive cable home of the PGA TOUR.
